Embrace a new philosophy

End food restrictions and relearn normal eating

At The Runaway Fork, you will learn to create a nourishing relationship with food and body by awakening your natural Intuitive Eating abilities. Discover a non-diet approach to eating by understanding the wisdom of the body and its amazing capacity to self-regulate.

Intuitive Eating is a dynamic process that integrates the attunement of mind, body, and food in a way that honors your inner wisdom. A process where you learn to trust your inner biological and emotional signals to facilitate normal eating without triggering the deprivation and anguish of dieting.

  • Learn how satisfaction is the focal point of eating

  • Learn to engage in healthy movement just because it feels good

  • Learn to use nutrition information without judgement

  • Learn to respect your body regardless of its size and shape

  • Learn to trust your inner signals for hunger, satiety, and satisfying food choices

  • Learn new ways to manage emotional overeating

  • Learn to reject the diet mentality

  • Learning to address your negative self-talk

It’s time for a new approach to eating and weight

End the despair from years of failed diet attempts, the stress that leads to chaotic eating, and the preoccupation with food and weight. The Runaway Fork can help you create a balanced life so you can respond to the needs of your body in a timely manner. Benefit from enough rest, play, connection, and nourishment of mind and body so you can listen and respond more easily to your inner signals, resulting in greater physical and emotional well being.

Intuitive Eating Works!

To date, there are 90 research studies on Intuitive Eating validating its concepts and principles, with more studies currently underway. Researchers found that Intuitive Eaters:

Eat a more diverse diet and take more pleasure in their eating

  • Have a Higher
  • Body satisfaction
  • Life satisfaction
  • Optimism
  • Positive coping
  • Body appreciation
  • Body Awareness
  • Good cholesterol
  • Have a Lower
  • Body dissatisfaction
  • Emotional eating
  • Internalized culturally thin ideal
  • Self-silencing
  • Disordered eating
  • Triglycerides
  • Good cholesterol

Feel Empowered

Awakening your innate Intuitive Eater has nothing to do with willpower, obedience, or the reliance on anything external from yourself that tells you what, when, or how much to eat.

Learn to clear your mind of the punitive and obsessive thoughts about your eating and body. Learn to trust the body wisdom that has always been within; and enjoy increased self-esteem and feelings of empowerment by honoring the validity of your internal voice.

Take the leap

At some point, deep down, most of us realize that we just can’t make another diet attempt, yet we don’t know what else to do. We feel stuck, scared, and out-of-control. Take the leap into the growing anti-dieting movement. Develop a new frame of reference and learn evidence-based tools to resist the “quick fix” and diet traps that we know don’t work and cause harm to our physical and mental health.

Curious about learning a new approach?

Take the leap!

Diets Fail Us

We don’t fail them

Diets don’t work

You might be surprised to learn that according to the sum total of weight loss studies, we cannot conclusively say that diets work. An unbelievable 95% of those who diet regain their weight within a year, and most gain back even more.

As one of the most well studied areas, weight loss researchers have found that dieting does not produce sustainable weight loss results, and can damage our biological and psychological health as well.

Stressful weight loss strategies can’t be sustained

  • Food deprivation
  • Low pleasure food
  • Punishing exercise
  • “Motivational” thoughts based on self-hate
  • Fear of eating after the diet ends

This way of living is extremely difficult to sustain because it works against our innate biological and psychological drives; it makes sense that no one is able to adhere to this process for very long.

Dieters feel it’s their fault when the weight is regained

Researchers found that dieting causes stress and is correlated to feelings of failure, lowered-self-esteem, and social anxiety. We feel shame, guilt, self-hatred, and disgust at our bodies and at our lack of willpower and obedience. Dieting erodes our confidence and self-trust. We believe we possess a fundamental character deficit.

Our bodies suffer too

Research indicates that dieting slows our metabolism and the rate of weight loss, increases binges and cravings, and teaches our body to retain more fat once normal eating resumes. Dieting has been found to cause weight gain and is linked to eating disorders.

The Runaway Fork uses evidence-based tools and strategies drawn from the fields of Psychology, Neuroscience, Eating, and Weight to help you find peace in your relationship with food, body, and mind.
